Whatever “voodoo that you do” is working.
Just a word of thanks.
You advised me that if you have a massage and in a day or two the pain comes back, that the massage was No-good. After my first session, I doubted what you did to me. I don’t anymore. Whatever “voodoo that you do” is working. I now have had three treatments from you in June and coming in to see you again tomorrow. It will have been three weeks since I last saw you, and I have to say that I don’t have those pains in my neck and shoulders that I have been plagued with for years are not there.
Again, thank you Maria, Craig
Maria saved me from surgery.
A year ago I called you desperate for relief. At that time I was in extreme pain and could not even hold my head up properly. When I called you, you said give me six months and you could probably save me from surgery. You were right! The many trips from Calgary were definitely worth it. I now feel great and have full mobility – not possible with surgery.
You’re an angel. Thank you! Stan
After only three sessions and continued practice of the exercises you suggested, my back pain has gone away.
I am writing to express my gratitude to you for healing my lower back. I came to you last summer experiencing severe lower back spasms, after only three sessions and continued practice of the exercises you suggested, my back pain has gone away. The varied techniques and thorough massage you used to heal my back were soothing, relaxing and highly therapeutic. Thank you for the personal care and attention you devoted to making me feel better. You did a splendid job!
We’ll be in touch, Rich
The combination treatment of moist heat, ultrasound, electrotherapy, and massage attributed to the substantial improvement in my condition.
BACK BASICS Remedial Therapy,
As a result of a motor vehicle accident on May 31 I sustained neck, back, knee and shoulder injuries. I was referred to a physiotherapist; massage therapist and chiropractor shortly after the accident and continued treatment for approximately five months under the care of three separate practitioners. I discontinued treatments with the three separate therapists, as my injuries were not responding well to the therapy I was receiving. This is when I became a patient of Maria Krieg and received the combination treatment of moist heat, ultrasound, electrotherapy and massage.
I strongly believe that this combination therapy attributed to the substantial improvement in my condition, Deanne
Thank you for such an amazing, relaxing and refreshing massage

Keep it up and stay feeling young, Hartinder

You are in my thoughts Lots!

To whom it may concern:
My name is Barbara. I am a forty-nine-year-old computer systems analyst and homemaker. Eighteen months ago, I broke my right wrist when I was doing some home renovations. It was a fairly severe break and I had to have an operation to set my wrist with pins. My arm was put in a cast up to my elbow. In six weeks the pins and the cast were removed, and the surgeon prescribed physiotherapy.
The physiotherapist said that I would likely need two or three one hour appointments per week. She also said that Alberta Health Care would cover the cost of nine of the appointments. An appointment consisted of alternating hot-cold arm baths, followed by the therapist physically manipulating my wrist, and then ultrasound and electrical stimulation. The physical manipulations were extremely painful. This being the first time that I had broken a bone, I thought that this was normal. I could not straighten my elbow, but I thought that this was because I had severely bruised my elbow in the fall. Rotating my shoulder joint was also painful, but maybe that was because of lack of movement from being in the cast? I was puzzled that my finger joints were sore. I complained about all of these symptoms to the physiotherapist, the surgeon and to other working at the clinic. After a couple of weeks of physiotherapy, I felt that my condition had not improved, and was quite likely, getting worse. After a treatment, my fingers and wrist would swell up. I noticed that the skin was very shiny. The joint and muscle pain in my right hand, elbow and shoulder had become constant.
I express my disillusionment with the physiotherapy to an acquaintance and she recommended that I see Maria, a massage therapist, at BACK BASICS.
On my first appointment with Maria, she said that she considered my symptoms to be very serious, and that must immediately go to see my surgeon to get a diagnosis. I took her advice and my surgeon diagnosed Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome or Sudeck’s Syndrome. The surgeon prescribed painkillers and made an appointment for me at a pain clinic where a doctor prescribed amitriptyline, a drug that I found to have undesirable side effects.
I went back to Maria and she started treatment with autonomic nerve massage. After just one appointment, I noticed that the circulation to my fingers was improved and that my skin was not as shiny. I felt such relief after that first appointment! Finally, someone that could help! Very gradually, Maria was able to add other treatment methods – electrical muscle stimulation, physical manipulations, ultrasound and strengthening exercises. I felt fortunate that I was able to get all these treatments from my massage therapist. As well as it being very convenient, I had confidence that from doing massage, Maria had a thorough knowledge of the condition of my muscles and joints. With this hands-on knowledge, she could customize my appointment, applying the treatment methods that would give me the maximum benefit. I believe that this saved me both time and money.
I am now doing everything I did before I broke my wrist. My family doctor said that he has a relative with Sudyks and that the condition severely affects her quality of life. My quality of life is not affected and I credit this to my massage therapist.
I encourage doctors to prescribe and Alberta Health Care to cover massage therapy. I feel that it is in the patients’ best interest to have treatments such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation available from their massage therapist. I ask that our medical system please support and encourage professionals, like Maria, who strive to have the very best treatments available to their patients.
Having dealt with a large number of back therapists over the years, I can confidently state that the blending of treatments that Maria provides is rather rare and very valuable.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the excellent treatment both past and ongoing, that I receive at your clinic.
I have received many forms of treatment over the years, including chiropractic, massage therapy, and physiotherapy. While each of these techniques has some benefit, each is also lacking in its ability to treat the body as a complete system.
Chiropractic treatment alone does not help alleviate the muscle aches and pains, which can cause the spine to get out of alignment, not does it strengthen the body to help prevent future problems.
By relaxing the muscles, massage therapy provides a good base upon which the healing and strengthening of the body can begin, but does nothing to actually help strengthen or align the spine.
Physiotherapy, through the use of motion and electrical stimulation, works on strengthening the body to prevent further injuries, however, without first relaxing the muscles this process is painful and can be less effective.
I’ve found that your unique combination of treatments (ultrasound, heat, and relaxation massage, deep muscle manipulation, spinal alignment, and finally motion therapy combined with electrical stimulation), provides me with the best from each of the professions. My back is treated as a whole entity, aligning the spine and relaxing the muscles, while at the same time increasing both the flexibility and strength of the entire system.
Having dealt with a large number of back therapists over the years, I can confidently state that the blending of treatments that you provide is rather rare and very valuable, I believe that the quality of back care in this province would benefit if more therapists trained in the multi- disciplinary techniques that you employ.
Thank you Maria! Sincerely, Jon
Trying massage therapy was my last option, I am happy that I chose Maria out of the telephone directory.
I am writing to thank you for helping out on a problem that I have had for many years.
About fifteen years ago, both my feet went numb. After many tests for nerves, muscles and pain that I had taken, nothing was diagnosed. Trying massage therapy was my last option, I am happy that I chose Maria out of the telephone directory. We started therapy about two years ago and I am pleased with the results. I am starting to have feeling in my feet, such as warmth and pain. It’s sure nice to know where my feet are and not tripping when going upstairs.
Thank you very much, Peter
It is this combination that makes Maria truly exceptional at what she does for a living.
Occasionally, events occur in our life for which there was no warning, rhyme or reason, there is no justification and no fairness, and there will never be explanation or reason. Strangely, ironically, I have found that it is from these events that some of my dearest relationships have been formed.
It was during one of these events, an event that left me physically disabled from mental stress and anguish, that I met Maria. I had sought treatment from several traditional and non-traditional health practitioners for a bulged disk in my neck, without even a hint of success, when a colleague recommended Maria to me. With nothing to lose but the unrelenting and agonizing pain that had kept me away from work, awake for most of every night, and reliant on opiate derivatives for seven weeks, I went to see her. Within days, I was sleeping through the night without medication. After three sessions, I regained full mobility of my neck, shoulder, arm and hand. After the fourth session, I was where I find myself today, with a slight tingling sensation in my left thumb and index finger…otherwise feeling great, being the person who I am, living my life, as I want to live it.
I believe that many people are very good at what they do for a living. But I also believe that very few are truly exceptional at what they do. Those who are, I believe are those fortunate enough to have melded their talents with their passions. Maria is passionate about helping people, making people more comfortable, more healthy, seeing people live better lives. She is also a highly skilled physiotherapist. It is this combination that makes Maria truly exceptional at what she does for a living. Through her work, and her passion, Maria makes lives better.
I would strongly recommend Maria, first, for any ailment that may be helped by physiotherapy, Jean Paul
I have been seeing Maria since 1983
I fist met Maria in 1983 when my husband gave me a gift of massage at BACK BASICS for my 40th birthday. It was an experience I will never forget, firstly for the pain relieving massage and secondly for the warmth and kindness of Maria.
Since then I have been seeing Maria for more tension relieving massages and about 10 years later for a severe case of elbow tendonitis. After two years of doctors prescribing medications and cortisone shots and still having no relief, Maria, in one session was able to cure the tendonitis permanently.
Both my husband and I have been troubled with toenail fungus. After trying several over the counter remedies that did not work and our family doctor not recommending the prescribed medication, we felt doomed to a life of ugly toenails. We mentioned our condition to Maria, who said that she could help. Well, she did more than that! With intensive filing and laser treatment, she has it under control. We now see her for pedicure maintenance.
