Maria Krieg: WORK EXPERIENCE
Maria Krieg has been a member with the MTAA (Massage Therapists Association of Alberta) since 1989, meeting all continuing education requirements.
For the last 15 years she has been treating more accident patients, amounting to approximately 70% of her entire business. These patients come to her with a doctor’s recommendation and usually get reimbursed by their car insurance companies. Treatments consist of deep medical soft tissue massage, heat application, posture training, exercises specifically designed for the patient’s condition and integrated into their particular life style and work environment, specialized ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation. (Treatments for relaxations are also available.)
- SEPTEMBER 1981 – PRESENT Certified by the Edmonton Board of Health, owns and operates BACK BASICS a clinic for remedial and therapeutic massage in Edmonton.
- APRIL 1976 – JUNE 1980 Owned and operated a “Klinik fuer Physiotherapie” in Duesseldorf, Oberbilker Allee 182, W.GermanyThis clinic was government certified; patients were referred by medical doctors and naturopaths. Physiotherapy treatments were covered by the German Health Care System and Workers’ Compensation as well as private insurance companies.
- MARCH 1974 – MARCH 1976 Worked in Physiotherapie for an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Med. Rudolf Stilz, Duesseldorf.
Maria’s work included therapeutic muscle and connective tissue massage, various electrotherapy techniques, and Chiro-Gymnastics for the medico-mechanical treatments of all spinal conditions, posture disorders including scoliosis, as well as all types of contractures (Sudeck, etc.), circulatory problems and complications from paralysis.

- MARCH 1974 Achieved recognition to practice physiotherapy under one of the two official physiotherapy titles: “Masseurin und medizinische Bademeisterin”.
- JANUARY 1973 – MARCH 1974 Successfully completed 14 months of internship at the University of Dusseldorf. “Klinische Anstalten der Universitat Dusseldorf”.
- AUGUST – DECEMBER 1972 Successfully completed 4 months of internship at the “Institut fuer Physiotherapie” Lendringsen, W.Germany
- MARCH 1972 Graduated from the College “Kneipp-Gesundheits Schule, Fachschule fuer Physiotherapeuten” Boppard, W.Germany
- JANUARY – MARCH 1971 Successfully completed the pre-qualification (Practicum) at the “Landes Nervenklinik Andernach” in West Germany, a training program to gain entry into the Physiotherapy College.
